WHEN YOU UNDERSTAND FASHION HISTORY YOU CAN PREDICT THE FUTURE OF VINTAGE
When you understand fashion history, as we do, you can predict the future of fashion. We select the rising, reinventing and ruling designers to buy now and keep for a long time. Without new clothes there’s no vintage. Choose wisely.
HOW WE JUDGE FUTURE VINTAGE
Does it bring people together or pull them apart? (Subculture can’t exist without pop).
Is it an homage or a rip off? (Either of itself or another designer).
Is it a conspicuous part of a brands’ story? (Good or bad).
Will it be an easy to date trend in 15 years time? (That’s a bad thing).
Is it considered classic or timeless? (Code for banal).
Does it challenge culture, creativity or commerce? (You want that).
EDITORS NOTE
We’re not for beginners. Some pieces you need two of. One to store another to wear. Depends what you value most. The investment or the feeling? Perhaps both. Some Future Vintage items may be bad quality, had a bad review or a be a bad departure from its brand’s past. In the narrative of your archive that’s part of its value. We don’t support badly made items, but we’ve been here before in the overindulgent ‘80s. It retracted then and it will again.
