CHARGES

We sell on behalf of professional sellers and private collectors around the world. We ship internationally from the UK with DHL and the Royal Mail and from the US with FedEx. The carrier will be selected automatically depending on where your purchase ships from and the available delivery options with that carrier will be displayed at checkout. If you are purchasing more than one item, it’s possible that they will ship from different countries and separate shipping charges will apply. Item prices shown are before shipping and taxes. The final shipping charge will be displayed at check out. Depending on where the item ships from and to, you may have to pay customs charges to receive your purchase.

DELIVERY

Delivery times are based on the time your package is sent and may vary depending on the availability of the item and your delivery address and are estimates only. We typically prepare items to be shipped within one week of your purchase. After you’ve placed your order, we’ll email you with all the details so that you can track its journey. You will be notified if there are any delays or issues with your order, however, we can’t take responsibility for delays caused by the shipping carrier, customs clearance delays or failed payments. There may be circumstances where delivery is delayed because of events beyond our reasonable control. If this happens, we will try and arrange for your products to be delivered as soon as possible, but we are not liable to you for any losses caused as a result of these such delays.

In certain circumstances the shipping carrier may offer optional services when delivering your order, such as: (a) signature release: opting out of the requirement to provide a signature on delivery; (b) leave with neighbour, reception or security: re-directing the delivery to a neighbour, reception or security; (c) reschedule a new delivery date: selecting a delivery date that best suits you; and/or (d) re-directing to a collection point: collecting your package from a collection point nearby. By selecting any of these services, you acknowledge and agree that Byronesque is not responsible or liable for any loss or damage that may result from delivering your order in that way.

We require a signature for all orders, which means that delivery to PO Boxes, Army Post Office (APO) and Fleet Post Office (FPO) addresses is currently unavailable.

LOSS OR DAMAGE DURING SHIPPING

We submit and handle all claims for damaged, lost or mis-shipped orders with the carrier directly. Successful claims are paid to the customer when we have received the funds from the carrier. We do not refund or credit mis-shipped items due to the customer providing incorrect shipping information. If an item has been damaged during shipping as a result of the shipping carriers service, the item must be returned directly to Byronesque by the customer for inspection prior to making a claim.

APPRAISALS

In some cases, our contemporary vintage brand concession partners provide an appraisal of the items we offer for sale, and you will receive a certificate of appraisal with your purchase.

For items appraised by The Vivienne Foundation.
An appraisal fee of £100-£200, depending on the complexity and condition of an item, is added to the price of all vintage Vivienne Westwood items appraised by The Vivienne Westwood Foundation. 100 % of the profit made from every sale from The Vivienne Foundation concession and the appraisal fee goes directly to support the foundation’s four pillars of change; to halt climate change, stop war, defend human rights, and protest capitalism.

For more details about how The Vivienne Foundations uses these funds, please visit their website here. When you purchase an item from The Vivienne Foundation concession, you accept that these funds will go towards any or all their pillars of change and the people and organisations it supports, which may differ from those indicated on The Vivienne Foundation website.

Appraisals are conducted by experienced experts in the history of design and manufacture of Vivienne Westwood designs under the various labels she was associated with throughout her lifetime. Over the years certain companies have legally produced garments under licenses. There have also been instances where designs have been copied illegally by companies and individuals to higher or lower degrees of accuracy and have been passed off as authentic. Many individuals encouraged by Vivienne Westwood’s promotion of a DIY ethic made their own versions of garments. They wore these with great pride and some of these garments have an intrinsic value in their own right.

Provenance information is very important in helping to appraise an item. During the appraisal process appraisers review any or all the following documents and information which are then stored in the blockchain of the respective item: The provenance of the item and how the current owner came to be in possession of it. Where and when it was bought or who gave it to them. How long they have owned it. Any photos of them or the original owners wearing it around the time it was first purchased. Any proof of purchase or other relevant info. A detailed description of any visible damage to the item including any known alterations or repairs made to the item.

This detailed information and provenance photographs will be recorded and maintained as a reference in the event the owner or buyer decides to resell their item(s). This will provide an ongoing record and peace of mind for the buyers, sellers, and collectors.

The Vivienne Foundation and Byronesque and our third party blockchain partners Spin.Fashion, have full at will usage rights of any information and photographs provided by the seller for publication or any other reason whatsoever.

In an effort to reduce waste, appraised items will be returned in the packaging they are received in. Items must be shipped to the location of the archivist directly and you are responsible for the shipping charges to and from this location. While an item is with the archivist it is fully insured up to the appraised value set by the archivist after it has been appraised. It is your responsibility to insure your item(s) against loss, theft, or damage during shipping.

For items appraised by Fondazione Sozzani.
100 % of the profit made from every sale from the Fondazione Sozzani concession goes directly to support the Fondazion’s activities that promote important photography, art, and fashion of the 20th and 21st Century to advance the quality and integrity of creativity in contemporary culture. For more details about how Fondazione Sozzani uses these funds, please visit their website here. CERTIFICATES OF APPRAISAL

For security reasons, certificates of appraisal are mailed after you have received your purchase. A digital version of the certificate is securely stored online in your private Byronesque account and in our blockchain on Spin.Fashion, where you can track the fashion history and future value of your item. The certificate is held on the blockchain as an NFT (non-fungible token) that can be traded in the event you choose to re-sell your item. The certificate includes a QR code that links to the NFT certificate and respective historical documentation stored on the Byronesque blockchain held by our partner platform Spin.Fashion. The certificate must not be posted online, shared on social media, nor shared with anyone other than an intended buyer only after it has been purchased. We will facilitate the transfer of the digital certificate once your item has sold to a new owner and the funds for your item have been received. If you lose the paper version of your certificate, please contact us here for a replacement.
